About Pilates

Pilates is a low-impact exercise system that focuses on strengthening and lengthening the body, improving flexibility, and promoting overall body awareness. It emphasizes controlled movements, precision, and proper alignment to develop a strong core and enhance posture. Central to Pilates is the practice of breath work. Intentional breathing is used to support movement, increase oxygen flow to muscles, and facilitate relaxation. By focusing on both breath and movement, Pilates encourages the balancing of the body as a whole, creating harmony between strength and flexibility, while also addressing imbalances and improving functional movement patterns for daily activities.

When do I move up class difficulty?

  • For the first timers and those who have practiced on a Reformer once or twice. Your journey has just begun!

  • You’ve taken a handful of Beginner/Intermediate classes and you’re very comfortable with listening and responding to cues and changing your springs. You’re feeling more confident about your body awareness and form.

  • You’ve been excelling in Intermediate classes and you have a solid understanding of all the exercises. You'r form is on point and you are ready for a challenge. You’ve been attending classes regularly for several months, multiple times a week.
